About
Everything you want to know about this project.
Same truth. Clear English. Written so you can actually read it without a footnote in your lap.
What this isn't
By the numbers
Every chapter reviewed. Every reference verified. Every edition shipped.
One project, two voices
Same source. Same review process. Two different voices for two different readers.
Gen-Z voice. Slang welcome. Built for a phone-first generation that needs Scripture to actually sound like it's talking to them.
Visit nocap.bible →Clean modern English. No slang. Built for general readers who want clarity without the cultural costume.
Visit fresh.bible →A creative paraphrase of the Bible in modern language. Same truth, new language. Not a formal translation — think of it like The Message but in modern English.
It's a paraphrase, not a word-for-word translation. We always recommend reading alongside an established translation like the ESV or NIV. The original meaning is preserved — we just changed the words.
The Message (Eugene Peterson) is the gold standard for modern paraphrases and a major influence on this project. The difference is voice and audience: this is built for readers who didn't grow up in church and need the cultural distance closed even further. Same goal, different generation.
Yes. Every chapter goes through a multi-stage review process with automated validation, expert theological review, and human sign-off. See the full breakdown of our review process.
Created by Ryan Brents. Built with a passion for making Scripture accessible to people who've never opened a Bible — or who gave up on the old-English versions.
Fresh is the same project as nocap.bible in clean modern English — no slang, no costume. Just Scripture read like it was written yesterday.
Absolutely. It's great for youth groups, small groups, personal study, or just getting someone interested in reading the Bible for the first time. Check out our resources for leaders.
The ESV (English Standard Version) and NIV (New International Version) are the primary reference texts. Every verse is checked against the original.

Yes. The most valuable contribution is feedback — typos, theological hiccups, chapters that didn't land. Send notes via the feedback widget or email and they shape every revision.
Share it with someone. Sign up for email updates. Read a chapter and tell us what you think. If you want to help keep the lights on, support the project.
