An Assyrian monument shows the only known ancient depiction of an Israelite king — Jehu bowing before his conqueror.
This six-and-a-half-foot limestone obelisk, carved around 825 BCE, depicts King Jehu of Israel (or his ambassador) kneeling before Assyrian emperor Shalmaneser III and offering tribute. It's the earliest surviving image of any biblical figure. The obelisk was discovered at Nimrud in 1846 and now sits in the British Museum.
