The Iliad and Odyssey take their final form, becoming the foundational works of Western literature.
Sometime around 750-700 BCE, the epic poems attributed to Homer were composed (or written down from oral tradition) in ancient Greece. The Iliad tells the story of the Trojan War, while the Odyssey follows Odysseus's ten-year journey home. These works shaped Greek religion, education, and identity for centuries, and remain among the most influential literary works ever created.
