A boundary marker on Judahs northern frontier at Mount Jearim
JudeaChesalon ("hope") was a boundary point on the northern frontier of Judah's tribal inheritance, named in Joshua 15:10: "And the border compassed from Baalah westward unto mount Seir, and passed along unto the side of mount Jearim, which is Chesalon, on the north side." The town gave its name to the slope of Mount Jearim on the boundary between Judah and Dan. The site is identified with the modern village of Kesla about 16 km west of Jerusalem in the Judean foothills.
