An Israelite encampment on the edge of the wilderness as Israel left Egypt
SinaiEtham was the second wilderness station Israel reached after the Exodus, on the edge of the wilderness as they headed away from Succoth (Exodus 13:20, Numbers 33:6-8). From Etham, God redirected them to camp by the sea at Pi-hahiroth before the Red Sea crossing. After the crossing, they traveled into the "wilderness of Etham" for three days before reaching Marah (Numbers 33:8). The exact location is unknown but was likely on the eastern frontier of Egypt, perhaps near the modern Suez region.
