The hill in Jerusalem associated with God's presence — used interchangeably with the Temple mount and the city itself
JudeaOriginally the Jebusite fortress David conquered (2 Samuel 5:7), Mount Zion became synonymous with Jerusalem, the Temple, and God's dwelling place. The prophets and psalms use 'Zion' to represent God's chosen city and His eternal kingdom. In Revelation, the Lamb stands on Mount Zion with the redeemed.
Revelation
The Harvest No One Can Stop
Mount Zion is where the Lamb stands with the 144,000 in this opening vision — functioning not as a geographic location but as the symbol of God's sovereign, unassailable presence after the beast's seeming dominance.
Isaiah
After the Devastation, a Canopy
Mount Zion is the specific site over which God promises to spread his protective canopy — the place of his presence, now covered rather than exposed, sheltered rather than stripped bare as in chapter 3.
Isaiah
When Even the Prophet Wept
Mount Zion is the destination for Moab's tribute lamb — the seat of Judah's power and God's presence, representing the one place of potential refuge that Moab is now desperately trying to reach.
