An eloquent Jewish teacher from Alexandria starts preaching boldly in Ephesus — but he only knows half the story until Priscilla and Aquila bring him up to speed.
Apollos arrives in Ephesus already an exceptional teacher — well-trained in the Scriptures and fired up to talk about Jesus. The catch: he only knew John the Baptist's teaching, not the full message of the gospel. Priscilla and Aquila quietly pull him aside and fill in the gaps. He then travels to Achaia where he proves powerfully from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Messiah. Paul later names Apollos alongside himself as a key builder of the Corinthian church (1 Corinthians 3:6). His background in Alexandria — the era's center of Jewish learning — gave him the scholarly foundation; the gospel gave him the message.
