Jealous officials trick the king into a law that targets Daniel's prayer life — and he ends up spending the night with lions.
Under the new Persian administration, Daniel's colleagues scheme to destroy him by making prayer to anyone but the king illegal for thirty days. Daniel keeps praying openly, just as he always has. King Darius has no choice but to throw him in the lions' den, but spends the whole night unable to sleep. At dawn, he rushes to the den and finds Daniel completely unharmed — God sent an angel to shut the lions' mouths.
