Ezekiel 39 sees the great defeated army of Gog of Magog buried for seven months in a valley east of the Dead Sea named "Hamon-gog" — and a future city called Hamonah will arise as the land is cleansed of the apocalyptic invader.
Ezekiel 38-39 records the prophet's great apocalyptic vision of Gog of Magog leading a vast coalition against the restored Israel and being utterly defeated by direct divine intervention: "And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamon-gog... And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they cleanse the land" (Ezek 39:11, 16). The seven-month burial campaign symbolizes the final eradication of the world's opposition to God.
God tells Ezekiel about a massive future invasion — a coalition of nations led by a mysterious figure called Gog, sweeping down on a restored and peaceful Israel. But the twist? God is the one pulling them in. And what happens when they arrive changes everything.
EzekielThe Day Everything Gets SettledGod finishes what he started with Gog — total defeat, seven years of burning weapons, seven months of burying the dead. Then comes the twist: this was never just about destroying an enemy. It was about restoring a people and pouring out his Spirit so he'd never have to hide his face again.
