Isaiah 19 prophesies an astonishing future in which five Egyptian cities will speak Hebrew swear allegiance to the Lord and build an altar to Yahweh in the midst of the land of Egypt — including one called the City of the Sun.
Isaiah 19 closes one of the most remarkable oracles in prophetic literature: after announcing the judgment that would shatter Egypt, the prophet sees a startling future of conversion. "In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the Lord of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction" (Isaiah 19:18). The chapter culminates in the vision of an altar to the Lord in the midst of Egypt and a highway from Egypt to Assyria, with all three nations — Israel, Egypt, Assyria — worshiping together: "Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance" (Isa 19:25).
