Paul's preaching threatens the idol-making industry in Ephesus, and the city erupts in a riot.
Paul spends over two years in Ephesus, and his teaching is so effective that the market for silver shrines of the goddess Artemis takes a serious hit. A silversmith named Demetrius whips his fellow craftsmen into a frenzy, and soon the whole city is in chaos. A mob drags Paul's companions into the amphitheater and chants 'Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!' for two hours before the city clerk finally calms the crowd.
