The Cyrus Cylinder, discovered in 1879, confirms Cyrus's policy of returning exiled peoples to their homelands — exactly what the Bible describes for the Jews.
This clay cylinder, now in the British Museum, records Cyrus's conquest of Babylon and his decree allowing deported peoples to return home and rebuild their temples. While it doesn't mention Jews specifically, it confirms the exact policy described in the books of Ezra and Chronicles. Often called the 'first declaration of human rights,' it's one of the most important archaeological confirmations of a biblical narrative.
