The innermost sacred space or the highest level of consecration — reserved for God alone
The "most holy place" (Holy of Holies) was the innermost room of the tabernacle/Temple where God's presence dwelt above the Ark. Only the high priest could enter, once a year on the Day of Atonement. Certain offerings were also designated "most holy."
