Hanan was the head of a family of Temple servants (Nethinim) who returned from Babylonian exile to Jerusalem under Zerubbabel. His descendants are listed among those who came back to resettle the land and resume their duties in Temple service. He appears in the genealogical records of Ezra and Nehemiah.
