One of the most brilliant (and controversial) theologians in early Christianity
A prolific scholar from Alexandria (185-253 AD) who wrote extensively on Scripture and theology. Famous for his allegorical interpretation of the Bible. When asked who wrote Hebrews, he said 'Only God knows.' Some of his ideas were later condemned, but his impact on biblical scholarship is massive.
