Bamoth

Bamoth ("high places") was a station on Israel's wilderness itinerary after they had crossed the Arnon and entered the borderlands of Moab (Numbers 21:19-20). The list reads: "from Mattanah to Nahaliel, from Nahaliel to Bamoth, and from Bamoth to the valley that is in the country of Moab, by the top of Pisgah which looks down on the desert." Most scholars identify Bamoth with Bamoth-baal, the high place where Balak later took Balaam to view the Israelite camp (Numbers 22:41); the two names likely refer to the same elevated lookout in the Abarim ridge near Mount Nebo.
