Alternate spelling of Haran. A city in upper Mesopotamia (modern Harran, Turkey) where Abraham's father Terah died (Genesis 11:31) and where Jacob fled to his uncle Laban (Genesis 28-29). The double-r spelling reflects the original Akkadian form of the name. Some translations and historical sources use this spelling.
