A southern Negev town in the catalog of Judahs tribal inheritance
NegevIim ("ruins" or "heaps") was a southern Negev town in Judah's tribal inheritance named in Joshua 15:29: "Baalah, and Iim, and Azem." The town appears only in this single boundary list and is uncertain in location. It lay in the desert margin between settled Judah and the Edomite-Amalekite wilderness, possibly identified with one of the small tells in the western Negev where Iron Age occupation layers have been recovered. A separate Iim appears in Numbers 33:45 as a wilderness camp on Israel's itinerary in the plains of Moab.
