A wilderness camp described as "a land with streams of water" during Israel''s wandering
ArabahJotbathah was a station on Israel's wilderness itinerary, camped after Hor-haggidgad and before Abronah (Numbers 33:33-34). Moses later recalled it as "a land of brooks of water" (Deuteronomy 10:7), a rare oasis on the long desert march. The site is traditionally identified with Ein Yotvata in the southern Arabah valley north of Eilat, where springs still flow and a kibbutz of the same name carries on the biblical association. It was here, near Jotbathah, that Aaron's death and the transfer of priesthood to Eleazar marked a generational turning point in the wilderness journey.
