The remote Transjordan refuge where Gideon overtook the Midianite kings Zebah and Zalmunna
TransjordanKarkor appears once in Scripture as the final pursuit point in Gideon's legendary chase of the Midianite kings after the night attack at the Spring of Harod: "Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor, and their hosts with them, about fifteen thousand men, all that were left of all the hosts of the children of the east: for there fell an hundred and twenty thousand men that drew sword. And Gideon went up by the way of them that dwelt in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and smote the host" (Judges 8:10-11). The site lay deep in the eastern desert beyond the Jordan — likely in the Wadi Sirhan region — where Zebah and Zalmunna assumed they had outrun any pursuit.
