A town in the southern Judean Negev where David sent spoils from his Amalekite victory at Ziklag
NegevRacal appears once in Scripture in the catalog of southern Judean towns to which David sent shares of the recovered Amalekite spoils after his victory at Ziklag: "And when David came to Ziklag, he sent of the spoil unto the elders of Judah, even to his friends... To them which were in Bethel, and to them which were in south Ramoth, and to them which were in Jattir, And to them which were in Aroer... And to them which were in Rachal, and to them which were in the cities of the Jerahmeelites, and to them which were in the cities of the Kenites" (1 Samuel 30:26-29). The gifts cemented loyal alliances across the southern Judean clans for David's ascent to the throne.
