A southern Judean Negev town where David sent spoils from the recovered Amalekite raid at Ziklag
NegevRamoth (also called South Ramoth or Ramoth-Negev) appears once in Scripture in the catalog of southern Judean towns to which David sent shares of the Amalekite spoils after recovering his family from the Ziklag raid: "And to them which were in Bethel, and to them which were in south Ramoth, and to them which were in Jattir, And to them which were in Aroer, and to them which were in Siphmoth, and to them which were in Eshtemoa" (1 Samuel 30:27-28). The town is distinct from the famous Ramoth-Gilead east of the Jordan — this Ramoth lay in the southern Judean Negev, identified with Khirbet Ghazza or possibly Beersheba's satellite Tell Jemmeh.
