Romans 15:24 and 15:28 record Paul's intent to take the gospel as far west as Spain after visiting Rome. Whether he ever made it is debated; some early Christian sources (Clement of Rome, the Muratorian Canon) suggest yes, but Acts ends without describing the trip. Either way, Spain became a major center of Christianity by the 4th century.
