He rebuilt the High Places that his father Hezekiah had torn down. He put up altars to the Baals and set up Asherah poles. He worshiped the stars and planets and served them. He built pagan altars inside the house of the Lord — the very place where God had said, "My name will be here forever." He built altars to false gods in both courtyards of the Temple. He burned his own sons as offerings in the Valley of Hinnom. He practiced fortune-telling, read omens, dabbled in sorcery, and consulted mediums and those who speak with the dead. He did immense evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger.

His father had spent his entire reign cleaning house — tearing down , restoring worship, leading one of the greatest spiritual revivals in history. systematically undid every single thing his father had done. Every rebuilt. Every re-erected. And then he went further than anyone before him — burning his own children as and diving into the occult. This wasn't casual rebellion. The Lord spoke to Manasseh and to his people, but they paid no attention. So the Lord brought the commanders of the Assyrian army against them. They captured Manasseh with hooks, bound him in bronze chains, and dragged him to Babylon.
