After this Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth.
וַיַּ֥עַן אִיּ֗וֹב וַיֹּאמַֽר׃
[2] And Job said:
יֹ֣אבַד י֖וֹם אִוָּ֣לֶד בּ֑וֹ וְהַלַּ֥יְלָה אָ֝מַ֗ר הֹ֣רָה גָֽבֶר׃
[3] “Let the day perish on which I was born, and the night that said, ‘A man is conceived.’
הַיּ֥וֹם הַה֗וּא יְֽהִ֫י חֹ֥שֶׁךְ אַֽל־יִדְרְשֵׁ֣הוּ אֱל֣וֹהַּ מִמָּ֑עַל וְאַל־תּוֹפַ֖ע עָלָ֣יו נְהָרָֽה׃
[4] Let that day be darkness! May God above not seek it, nor light shine upon it.
יִגְאָלֻ֡הוּ חֹ֣שֶׁךְ וְ֭צַלְמָוֶת תִּשְׁכָּן־עָלָ֣יו עֲנָנָ֑ה יְ֝בַעֲתֻ֗הוּ כִּֽמְרִ֥ירֵי יֽוֹם׃
[5] Let gloom and deep darkness claim it. Let clouds dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.
