The apostles are arrested and beaten but refuse to stop preaching about Jesus.
The high priest and Sadducees jail the apostles out of jealousy, but an angel opens the prison doors overnight. They're found teaching in the temple the next morning and brought before the council. Gamaliel, a respected Pharisee, persuades the council to let them go, arguing that if this movement is from God, they can't stop it anyway. The apostles leave rejoicing that they were considered worthy of suffering.
