After miraculously feeding four thousand on the Decapolis side Jesus sails across the Sea of Galilee to Dalmanutha where Pharisees demand a sign from heaven and he famously refuses.
Mark 8:1-13 records that after Jesus had fed four thousand people from seven loaves and a few small fish on the eastern Decapolis shore, "straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha. And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him. And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation." Jesus left them, re-boarded the boat, and crossed back to the other side.
