Exiled on a rocky Aegean island, the apostle John is caught up in the Spirit and sees the risen Jesus.
While exiled on the small Aegean island of Patmos for his testimony about Jesus, John is caught up in the Spirit on the Lord's Day. He hears a voice like a trumpet behind him and turns to see the risen Christ — eyes like fire, voice like rushing waters, hair white as snow, holding seven stars in his right hand. The vision floors John, who falls at Jesus's feet as though dead, but Jesus lays his right hand on him and tells him not to be afraid. Jesus identifies himself as the First and the Last, the Living One who was dead and is now alive forever — and commissions John to write down everything he is about to see and send it to seven specific churches across the Roman province of Asia.
