Joseph can't hold it together any longer — he clears the room, breaks down weeping, and tells his stunned brothers who he really is.
When Judah offers to take Benjamin's place as a slave, Joseph sees that his brothers have truly changed. He sends everyone else out of the room and sobs so loudly that the Egyptians outside can hear him. 'I am Joseph,' he says. 'Is my father still alive?' His brothers are terrified, but Joseph tells them not to be afraid — God sent him ahead to save lives. It's one of the most powerful moments of forgiveness in all of scripture.
