Parable of the Prodigal Son

Jesus tells perhaps his most powerful story. A younger son asks for his share of the estate — essentially wishing his father were dead. He blows everything on reckless living and ends up feeding pigs. When he finally comes home, prepared to beg for a servant's position, his father sees him from far off, runs to him, and throws a lavish celebration. The older brother, furious at the unfairness, refuses to join the party.
