Parable of the Good Samaritan

When a religious expert asks, 'Who is my neighbor?' Jesus tells a story. A man is beaten and left for dead on the road from Jerusalem to Jericho. A priest and a Levite both pass by without helping. But a Samaritan — someone the Jewish audience would have looked down on — stops, bandages the man's wounds, and pays for his care. Jesus asks, 'Which one was the neighbor?'
