On the other side of the world, China's Zhou dynasty establishes the longest-lasting ruling house in Chinese history.
The Western Zhou dynasty (1046-771 BCE) rules a vast feudal network from their capital near modern Xi'an. They introduce the 'Mandate of Heaven' concept — the idea that rulers govern by divine approval and can lose it through injustice. Bronze inscriptions from this period provide some of the richest documentary evidence of any ancient civilization.
