What Happened

During a battle against five Amorite kings who attacked Israel's allies the Gibeonites, Joshua prays for more daylight to finish the fight. God causes the sun to stand still over Gibeon and the moon over the Valley of Aijalon for nearly a full day. The text says there's never been a day like it before or since — God literally fought for Israel.
