The Western Lakeshore Cluster of Naphtalis Fortified Cities — Ziddim Zer Hammath Rakkath and Chinnereth

Joshua 19:35-36 catalogs the western lakeshore cluster of Naphtali's nineteen fortified cities: "And the fenced cities are Ziddim, Zer, and Hammath, Rakkath, and Chinnereth, And Adamah, and Ramah, and Hazor." The cluster occupied the strategic western shore of the Sea of Galilee, guarding the rich fishing villages and the north-south trade route along the lakeshore. Ziddim is commonly identified with Kfar Hattin near the Horns of Hattin, while Rakkath later became the foundation site of Tiberias (built by Herod Antipas in 20 CE) — the same lake Jesus would minister around throughout the gospel narratives centuries later.
