The human ability to make genuine choices — a hotly debated topic between Calvinists and Arminians for 500 years
Does God predetermine every human decision, or do people have real freedom to choose or reject God? Calvinists emphasize God's sovereignty and say human will is bound by sin until God enables faith. Arminians emphasize human responsibility and say God's grace enables a genuine choice. Most Christians land somewhere on the spectrum, and both sides cite extensive Scripture. This debate isn't going away anytime soon.
