Ammihud was the father of Elishama, who served as the appointed leader of the tribe of Ephraim during Israel's wilderness journey. He appears in the census and camp arrangement records of Numbers, where his son represented Ephraim among the twelve tribal chiefs. His lineage is also noted in 1 Chronicles.
