Ham's son who was cursed by Noah — his descendants became the Canaanite nations
Son of Ham and grandson of Noah. After Ham saw his father naked and told his brothers, Noah cursed Canaan — 'a servant of servants shall he be to his brothers' (Genesis 9:25). His descendants populated the land that would later bear his name: the Canaanites, Sidonians, Hittites, Jebusites, Amorites, and other peoples listed in the Table of Nations (Genesis 10:15-19). The 'land of Canaan' became the Promised Land that God gave to Abraham's descendants.
Noah gets drunk, Ham dishonors him, and the fallout shapes the futures of Noah's three sons' descendants.
The Border of Canaan from Sidon Through Gerar and Sodom to LashaprimevalThe Table of Nations in Genesis 10 fixes the original Canaanite homeland — from Sidon south through Gerar and Gaza along the coast then east through the doomed cities of Sodom Gomorrah Admah and Zeboim to the boundary marker of Lasha east of the Dead Sea.
