Eliab

Eliab is Jesse's oldest son, whose impressive physical appearance nearly fools even Samuel into assuming he is God's choice — until God directly corrects the prophet's instincts.

Eliab is David's oldest brother, already deployed at the front lines with Saul's army — his presence there for forty days doing nothing will make his later anger at David all the more pointed.

This Eliab — not Jesse's son — is one of the eleven Gadite warriors who cross to David's side, part of a named list of commanders who chose the fugitive king over the established power.
