Eastern scholars who followed a star to worship the newborn Jesus
Also known as The Wise Men, The Three Kings
Mysterious visitors from the East who followed a star to find the newborn king of the Jews. They arrived in Jerusalem asking about the child, alarming Herod, then traveled to Bethlehem where they worshiped Jesus and presented gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Warned in a dream not to return to Herod — went home by a different route. Tradition says there were three of them based on the three gifts — but Matthew's Gospel never gives a number.
