The river in Babylon where Ezekiel received his visions of God's glory
BabyloniaHistorically Verified
Identified with a canal near the ancient city of Nippur in Babylonia. Nippur has been extensively dug up, and Babylonian administrative texts mention this waterway.
A river (or canal) in Babylonia where the prophet Ezekiel lived among the Jewish exiles and received his dramatic visions from God (Ezekiel 1:1, 3:15). It was beside the Kebar that Ezekiel saw the famous vision of the four living creatures, the wheels within wheels, and the glory of God. The Kebar was likely a major irrigation canal off the Euphrates near the city of Nippur.
