A Moabite city where King Balak hosted Balaam before leading him up to the high places to curse Israel
MoabKiriath-huzoth ("city of streets") appears once in Scripture as the Moabite town where King Balak hosted the diviner Balaam after their first meeting on the Arnon frontier: "And Balak offered oxen and sheep, and sent to Balaam, and to the princes that were with him. And it came to pass on the morrow, that Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal" (Numbers 22:39-41). The site lay near the high places of Baal (Bamoth-baal) in central Moab where Balaam pronounced the first of his three reluctant blessings over the Israelite camp visible in the plains below. The exact location remains unidentified.
