Aegean island Paul's ship passed on the return from his third missionary journey
AegeanHistorically Verified
Modern Samos in the eastern Aegean, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The massive Temple of Hera, the Eupalinian aqueduct tunnel cut through a mountain, and the ancient harbor mole are all preserved.
A Greek island in the eastern Aegean near the coast of Asia Minor. On Paul's return from his third missionary journey, his ship sailed from Trogyllium to Samos and on toward Miletus where Paul met the Ephesian elders for his famous farewell (Acts 20:15). The island was famous in antiquity as the birthplace of Pythagoras and home to the great Temple of Hera. The Roman general Mark Antony had spent winters there with Cleopatra a generation before Paul's voyage.
