A location near the house of Millo in Jerusalem where King Joash of Judah was assassinated by his servants
JudeaSilla appears once in Scripture as the place where King Joash of Judah was assassinated by his servants after his betrayal of the prophet Zechariah: "His servants arose, and made a conspiracy, and slew Joash in the house of Millo, which goeth down to Silla" (2 Kings 12:20). The "house of Millo" was a fortified terrace on the southern slope of the City of David built by Solomon, and Silla was apparently a nearby location on the descent into the Kidron Valley. The exact site has never been identified — the name may preserve the memory of a stepped road or causeway leading down from the royal quarter to the spring at Gihon.
