A location named in the ancient Book of the Wars of the Lord recording Israels camping route through the Arnon Valley toward Moab
MoabSuphah appears once in Scripture in a brief quotation from the lost "Book of the Wars of the Lord": "Wherefore it is said in the book of the wars of the Lord, What he did in the Red sea, and in the brooks of Arnon, And at the stream of the brooks that goeth down to the dwelling of Ar, and lieth upon the border of Moab" (Numbers 21:14-15). The Hebrew text reads "Vaheb in Suphah" — the placename preserved from this otherwise-lost ancient war annal that catalogued the Lord's military exploits during Israel's wilderness journey. Suphah likely lay in or near the Arnon Valley region on the southern frontier of Moab, though no precise identification has survived.
