The psalmist opened with a command directed at himself:
"Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul!
I will praise the Lord as long as I live. I will sing praises to my God while I have my being."
There's a difference between "praise the Lord" as an outburst and "as long as I live" as a decision. The psalmist wasn't waiting for conditions to improve — he committed for the of his . That's not enthusiasm. That's resolve — from knowing who you're singing to.
Here's why that resolve matters:
"Don't put your trust in powerful leaders — in any human being, who has no power to save.
When their breath leaves them, they return to the ground. On that very day, every plan they had vanishes."
The day they stop breathing, every , every movement they built starts unraveling. Think about how much energy people pour into following the right leader — the right politician, the right visionary. The psalmist isn't saying those people don't matter. He's saying they can't carry the weight you're putting on them.
Now the psalm pivots:
"But blessed is the one whose help is the God of Jacob — whose hope is in the Lord his God,
who made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them, who keeps faith forever."

The Lord loves those who do what's right. The Lord watches over the foreigner and the stranger. He holds up the widow and the fatherless — but the path of the wicked? He tears it apart."
Not a single influential name on that list. These are the people most systems forget — strangers without connections, widows, orphans — and didn't just notice them. He moved toward them. And that last line isn't passive kindness — he actively dismantles the plans of those who exploit the vulnerable. That's not just . That's with teeth.
The psalm closed where it opened — with praise:
"The Lord will reign forever — your God, O Zion, through every generation.
Praise the Lord!"
Every other throne eventually empties.
