A shepherd boy with a sling and five stones walked out to face a nine-foot warrior — and won with the first shot.
For forty days, the Philistine champion Goliath challenged Israel's army and no one dared respond. David arrived to bring food to his brothers and was stunned that everyone was afraid. He volunteered, refused Saul's armor, and walked onto the battlefield with a sling and stones. He told Goliath he came in the name of the Lord of Armies, sank a stone into the giant's forehead, and then used Goliath's own sword to finish the fight.
