A wealthy woman from Shunem builds Elisha a guest room — and the prophet repays her with a miracle son, then raises him from the dead when tragedy strikes years later.
A wealthy woman in Shunem notices that Elisha keeps passing through, so she persuades her husband to build a permanent rooftop guest room for him. Elisha asks Gehazi how he can repay her — she has no son and her husband is old — and prophesies she will be holding a baby by the next year. She does. Years later the boy collapses in the field with a head wound and dies in her lap. She tells no one, saddles a donkey, and rides straight to Mount Carmel to find Elisha. She refuses to leave without him. Elisha returns to Shunem, stretches himself over the boy twice in prayer, and the boy sneezes seven times and opens his eyes. Years later again, during a seven-year famine Elisha had warned her about, she returns from exile just as Gehazi is telling the king her story — and the king restores all her property on the spot.
Elisha steps into impossible situations — a widow about to lose her kids, a grieving mother holding her dead son, poisoned food, and not enough bread — and in every single one, God provides more than anyone expected.
2 KingsPerfect Timing and Dark TurnsA woman returns from exile at exactly the right moment. Elisha sees the future and weeps over what's coming. And Judah's throne gets handed to two kings who prove that family influence can pull you in the worst direction.
