After raising Lazarus, Jesus withdraws with the Twelve to a town called Ephraim near the wilderness to avoid the Sanhedrin's plot until Passover.
Following the raising of Lazarus, the Sanhedrin formally decided that Jesus must die before Passover gathered Jerusalem's crowds. Knowing the plot was set in motion, Jesus stopped moving openly in Judea and withdrew with his disciples to a town called Ephraim near the edge of the wilderness (John 11:54). They stayed there together — out of public reach — until Passover, when Jesus would re-enter Jerusalem to fulfill what he had foretold. Ephraim becomes the brief pause before the storm of Passion Week breaks.
