Shang Dynasty Begins in China

Around 1600 BCE, the Shang Dynasty emerged in the Yellow River valley, bringing bronze casting, a writing system (oracle bone script), and organized urban centers to ancient China. While Jacob's descendants settled in Egypt, on the other side of the world the Shang were building walled cities, crafting elaborate bronze vessels, and consulting their ancestors through divination rituals inscribed on turtle shells and ox bones.
