Sarah dies at 127, and Abraham buys the first piece of the Promised Land — a burial cave in Hebron.
Abraham mourns deeply for Sarah and then negotiates with the Hittites to purchase the cave of Machpelah. It's significant because it's the first actual real estate Abraham owns in Canaan — the land God promised him. The cave becomes the family burial plot for generations of patriarchs and matriarchs.
